We love Costco for its low prices, great quality and the fact that it has almost everything you can think of under one roof. Costco is also known for its adaptability: The big-box store is always improving things that could be just a little bit better. One example is the Costco checkout process, which can be glacially slow. But the beloved grocery giant is making a key change that could reduce your wait times and offer savings and convenience.

While this next new change won’t cut your time in the Costco line if you’re shopping in-store, it could save you big time and money on delivery. Here’s what to expect the next time you shop at Costco.

What changes is Costco making?

Costco has two major changes in store for you. One applies to Costco executive members only (I know, I know—they get everything) and the other to anyone who uses Instacart for same-day delivery.

Same-day delivery credit

You simply can’t beat the convenience of Costco’s same-day delivery options, available in the U.S. at sameday.costco.com. But those delivery and service fees pack a punch. Good news! Starting on June 30, 2025, Costco is offering executive members in both the U.S. and Canada a $10 monthly credit toward same-day delivery. The perk applies to the U.S. same-day website as well as Canada’s. You can also get the credit by using Costco via Instacart (on orders of $150 or more).

“Costco Executive Members expect exceptional value, and now they can get even more delivered to their door,” said Daniel Danker, the chief product officer at Instacart, in a press release. “Our new monthly credit makes it easier than ever for members across North America to get Costco’s warehouse items with the convenience of fast and reliable delivery through Instacart.”

No-rush and priority delivery options

Having your Kirkland favorites delivered right to your door is incredible, even if it costs you. If you’re used to ordering Costco delivery through Instacart, you may have also noticed big changes instituted earlier in June 2025: priority and no-rush delivery.

Costco first teamed up with Instacart to bring members same-day delivery back in 2017, and the popular same-day ordering portal launched in 2021. Now, shoppers can choose from regular same-day delivery, priority delivery in as little as 30 minutes and no-rush delivery. You guessed it: Choosing no-rush delivery saves you money.

But if you’re in a hurry, this Costco-Instacart initiative could have you enjoying your Costco purchases in as little as 30 minutes, depending on how close you live to a Costco. This option is only available for people who live in what Instacart calls a “smart service area,” so keep in mind that you would have to be pretty close for this time frame to apply.

What other changes has Costco made recently to improve the shopping experience?

For one, they’re opening the first-ever standalone Costco gas station!

If you drive to Costco for the cheap gas, even when you don’t need to shop for anything else, you’ve probably already heard about Costco extending their gas station hours. But now you won’t be tempted by all the potential goodies you could buy if you just popped inside the warehouse for a second. Drive in, get gas, drive out. Done.

But perhaps the most exciting news is what’s happening in the warehouse. Costco is offering a little extra time for executive members to shop. That’s right: Starting June 30, 2025, executive members get to shop an hour early (from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.) on weekdays, and 30 minutes early (9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.) on Saturdays. Here’s hoping that these new hours will spread out the crowds a bit, making checkout lines a little bit shorter for all members.
