Summer just got a whole lot sweeter

McDonald’s Is Changing Its Hours This Summer—And You’re Going to Love It

One of the best things about summer is that the days are longer, which means it’s easy to stay out and stay up a lot later. While keeping later hours is the stuff epic summers are made of, it can also make it hard to grab fries or ice cream from your favorite restaurant as the night goes on. Why does it feel like every restaurant closes so early, anyway?
However, big changes are headed to McDonald’s this summer, and if you’re one of the many who always craves a midnight snack from the Golden Arches, this is one change you’re going to love. Keep reading to find out about the change McDonald’s is making to its hours this summer—and which locations will be participating.

What change is McDonald’s making to its hours?
McDonald’s is about to make your summer nights even better because the fast-food restaurant chain is extending its hours all summer long. McDonald’s locations will soon be open until midnight or later, so you can satisfy your cravings for burgers, fries and Filet-O-Fish sandwiches till the wee hours of the morning. After all, what’s better than stopping at McDonald’s on your way home from a beach party or after a road trip? Sometimes you just need a late-night snack!
The big change comes hot on the heels of the legendary fast-food chain’s announcement that it’s hiring for more than 375,000 new jobs this summer. This marks one of the largest hiring sprees the company has had in years, which is really exciting for people ready to get to work.
Does it include all McDonald’s locations?
Most McDonald’s restaurants across the country will be participating in the fast-food chain’s extended summer hours. However, there are a few exceptions that you’ll want to keep in mind to avoid the disappointment of rolling up to the drive-thru only to discover that it’s already closed. McDonald’s restaurants in airports, malls and other locations that prohibit staying open later won’t be included in the new extended summer hours.
How late was McDonald’s previously open?
Just like different McDonald’s locations have different prices and, in some cases, different menu items, they also have different operating hours. Generally, McDonald’s locations are open until 11 p.m., but there are select locations that have drive-thrus open until 5 a.m., and others that are open 24 hours; the latter are typically found in major metropolitan areas, like New York City and Los Angeles.
What other changes is McDonald’s making this summer?
Staying open later isn’t the only change you’ll see from McDonald’s this summer. The fast-food chain is also introducing a brand-new McFlurry at participating Canadian locations to celebrate the dessert’s 30th anniversary—and it’s birthday cake–flavored! You can also enjoy the new McCrispy Strips, which just secured the first new spot on McDonald’s permanent menu since 2021. TBD on if the Snack Wrap will return to the menu this summer, as the company teased on its socials. We can only hope!
