Updated on Jun. 05, 2025

Charities are required to be open about their financials, so it's easy to determine which allow your donation to go the furthest

Best charities to donate to

When disaster strikes, any of the best charities on this list spring into action to help. The Gary Sinise Foundation has served more than 1.2 million meals to military and first responder heroes across the United States and overseas. Feeding America distributed 5.9 billion meals to those facing hunger in 2024.

As you hear about these remarkable acts of generosity, you may feel inspired to donate to a special cause close to your heart. However, before you part with your hard-earned money, it’s essential to understand how much of your donation benefits those in need versus covering administrative or other expenses. Luckily, charities are required to be open about their finances. Here are some of the best charities where your donations go the furthest.
